Tis the season for fall inspired dishes, some savory and some sweet! I love enjoying seasonal dishes and desserts, yet I like making them healthier by minimizing the sugar and swapping white flour for whole grains and higher fiber alternatives. This Healthy Apple Crisp with no added sugar is the perfect healthier dessert for fall while still tasting absolutely indulgent and delicious! It is reminiscent of all of the apple pies my mom made for us growing up after going apple picking — such great memories!
The grass isn’t greener on the other side, it’s greener where you water it. Same goes for gut health and the microbiome! The attention we give to our gut health is important for the health of the entire body, and these pillars are important for the health of the delicate ecosystem that is our gut microbiome.
I’m still holding onto summer with this fresh and fruity salsa that tastes delicious, basically on anything. There’s not much pre-prepping involved in this salsa except if you’d like to make the pickled red onions I used here, but feel free to omit this step and use fresh red onion! My garden is exploding with mint at this time of the summer so this is one of the best ways to put it to good use! (Mint and lemon water is alwaaays a good idea, too!)

Hi, I’m Samantha. Just like you, I use products every day from skin care, to makeup, to shampoos and body wash, sunscreen, and more. And I’m sure just like you too, I started to second guess the products we slather on ourselves daily that are supposed to improve our skin, appearance, and health. How are these products formulated? Do they contain toxic ingredients? As I started becoming more aware of the food industry and food additives, I also started to become concerned about what was in the products we use daily on our skin. When I started scanning my products to assess their safety on the Environmental Working Group Healthy Living app, I wasn’t happy with what I found. A lot of products we use in our everyday lives are downright HARMFUL to our bodies and have cancer promoting ingredients, endocrine disruptors and even have reproductive concerns.
New low carb, paleo muffin recipe comin’ atcha! I love making a batch of these and enjoying them as a snack, a post meal treat or paired with breakfast throughout the week. They’re perfect for a tasty, yet healthy treat that doesn’t send my blood sugar spiking or have me feeling hungry again an hour later. In this recipe I used hearty almond flour which is a good source of fiber and protein, organic eggs, unsweetened almond milk and just a few tablespoons of raw, organic honey for a hint of natural sweetness paired with the strawberries.
